Nitrogen Stabilization

 Protecting Nitrogen has become a popular subject.  We offer several products that can help you keep the Nitrogen you apply in the field longer for your crops to utilize.  There are three ways that Nitrogen can be lost from the soil.  Volatilization is when Nitrogen evaporates from the soil surface into the air.  Denitrification is when Nitrogen evaporates out of the ground because of saturated soil conditions.  Leaching is when Nitrate-Nitrogen is washed down and out of the soil profile with water because the negative charge of Nitrate is repelled by the negative charge of the soil particles.  Listed below are the Nitrogen protection products we have.
 
 
Agrotain is a liquid product and it protects Urea and liquid Nitrogen from volatilization.  It allows for 7-10 days before incorporation by rain or tillage.
 

 
Agrotain Plus is a dry product and it is for mixing with liquid Nitrogen. It protects from volatilization like regular Agrotain does, and it also keeps nitrogen in the soil in the Ammonium form longer so it is more stable and less susceptible to loss.
 
 
SuperU is Urea coated with Agrotain Plus.  It allows to Urea to be protected the same way that liquid Nitrogen would be protected with Agrotain Plus.
 
 
 
 
Instinct is a product that keeps Nitrogen in the ammonium form longer in the soil.  It slows or inhibits the bacteria that convert Ammonium to Nitrate in the soil.  Instinct can be mixed with liquid Nitrogen, impregnated on Urea, or mixed with manure.  You must have a pesticide applicator license to apply Instinct because it is a restricted use pesticide.
